The Polos' journey across Asia took another three years to complete. At last, in 1274, they reached China. China in those days was known as Cathay. Its leader was called a khan. In 1274, the khan was a very powerful man named Kublai. Kublai Khan remembered Nicolò and Maffeo from their earlier trip.
