He sent for Mercury, the messenger of the gods. "See that white cow?" he said to Mercury. "She is really the beautiful girl, Io. That terrible Argus follows her everywhere. I want you to kill him. Do you think you can?" "I will try," said the brave Mercury. "I'll have to take him by surprise. It won't be easy to surprise a man with a hundred eyes."
