Linguini heads to the river to drown Remy. But Linguini halts and realizes that Remy is the creator of the soup and asks if Remy could help him recreate it. Linguini frees Remy but Remy escapes. However, Remy returns to Linguini, realizing that he can't let him down and that he saved him from drowning.

Linguini enters the kitchen and approaches Remy. As Linguini attempts to apologize, the rats, including Emile, overhear him, to which Emile attempts to eat the last grape, but he falls on the floor while the cheese that Emile is standing on falls on him,

Linguini then thanks Remy for returning to kitchen to which just before the kitchen staff confront him, discussing with the staff about the truth, telling him that he has no talent at all. He speaks to them and explains that Remy is the one who is helping him with the recipes,

Back at the kitchen, Remy commands various rats to clean themselves and then gather the food to help them cook for Linguini just as Linguini helps several customers, including Anton Ego, just as Remy tells the rats to prepare the food correctly and as Colette Tatou enters the kitchen, Colette then decides to change her mind,

Skinner attempted to sabotage Linguini's efforts by capturing Remy, whom he discovered was the real chef. The kitchen fell into chaos as Linguini had no idea of how Remy cooked his dishes. Remy escaped and rushed to help Linguini,

Linguini and Colette even begin to develop a romantic bond, leaving Remy feeling left out and taken for granted. Remy finds Emile in the restaurant's trash, and Remy is reunited with the pack. Django warns Remy that humans and rats will never get along,

When Remy gets into an argument with Linguini for denying him credit, Git notices this and jokingly states that Linguini is like a "fluffy buddy" of Remy. Remy, who is still angry at Linguini, plans to steal food for the whole clan.

Later, Remy is captured by Skinner, in which Django and Emile help rescue him. Remy returns to the kitchen, where Linguini reveals the secret of Remy cooking by controlling his movements under his hat to the staff.

Linguini then reveals that Remy has been hiding under his toque and controlling his actions, to which all the staff, including Colette, leave the kitchen, thinking he has gone crazy. Django accepts Remy's apology to help him fix the problem between rats and humans in the kitchen, and upon apologizing to his son,

On his first night as "garbage boy" at Gusteau's, he witnesses Remy improving the soup he (Linguini) had wrecked earlier. When he hides Remy from view, Skinner believes that the soup was Linguini's work. Remy attempts to sneak away from Linguini's scolding,

However, Linguini is unconvinced in it and throws Remy out. In retaliation, Remy lets his family raid the kitchen one night but Linguini, wanting to reconcile accidentally discovers them and angrily throws them out.

Linguini starts to become successful as a cook; as his dishes guided by Remy prove to be enormously successful at the restaurant. Skinner becomes suspicious when he sees Linguini interacting with Remy in spit-second encounters. He attempts to get Linguini drunk so he can reveal how Remy is connected to him,
